Associate Spotlight // Freddy

August 20, 2020
I’m Frederick Price, but everybody just calls me Freddy. Currently, I am the Visual Assistant Leader at the Lakeside location in the Greater New Orleans area. I was previously the Visual Assistant Store Leader for the Perkins Rowe location in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I’ve been with Altar’d State for 3 ½ years and this has to be one of the best career journeys I have ever had. I have never been with a company that shows so much compassion and that is so caring to its people. I’ve dedicated myself to putting in the work to make sure that this company continues to grow and thrive, along with the amazing people I work with and serve under.
On April 25th, 2017, I received a voicemail from Beth Sharpe asking if I would like to come in for an interview for a brand new Altar’d State they were opening. At the time, I was working for a retail company that was in the middle of closing down all of its brick-and-mortar locations. We had three months left with the company until they shut down, and in those three months I was pounding the pavement looking for other opportunities. I was trying to find the right place for me. After striking out in countless interviews, I was thinking maybe my time in the retail industry was coming to an end. In my last three weeks, already feeling defeated, I got the call from Beth about my interview. In that moment, I didn’t realize that my life was about to change for the better. I had finally found a company where I felt that I could truly pursue my career goals.

The reason I love working here is that I have the chance to impact somebody’s life every time I step into the building. It’s the connections that I make with the guests and my colleagues that makes this job so special. I have had the opportunity to travel to new stores to assist with their openings, which I love doing. I have been able to absorb so much knowledge from my leaders and my peers, all of which have helped me expand my knowledge on what a great leader really looks like and learn how to inspire others.

One of my favorite Mission Monday partners has to be Compassion That Compels. This organization has touched my heart too many times to count. I was able to participate in a bag drop at a cancer center, which was so fulfilling and humbling.

One of my passions is Visual Merchandising, and I have the opportunity to do that every day in my role, which is so satisfying. But my true passion is Photography and Art Direction, which is what I went to school for. I love creating imagery that sparks emotion; I want the viewer to view an image and feel what that image is trying to convey. My future plan with Altar’d State is to eventually end up at the Home Office with the Marketing team. I want to become a shoot production coordinator or art director for photo shoots and have a part in creating great imagery for marketing campaigns.
